Apostle Michael Orokpo has become one of Nigeria’s most recognisable voices in Christian ministry, transforming from a chemistry lecturer into a global revivalist whose messages reach millions across three continents. With his fiery passion for soul-winning, this Abuja-based minister represents a new generation of Nigerian preachers. His journey from humble beginnings in Benue State to founding Encounter Jesus Ministries International is nothing short of remarkable.
Apostle Michael Orokpo Biography
Born on March 1, 1981, in Otukpa, Benue State, Nigeria, Apostle Michael Orokpo is a Nigerian gospel preacher, teacher, and apostle who has captured the hearts of revival-hungry believers worldwide. At 44, he’s achieved what many ministers spend decades building: a thriving international ministry with branches in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, making him one of the few academically credentialed voices in Nigeria’s Pentecostal movement. His ministry, Encounter Jesus Ministries International (EJMI), officially launched on January 23, 2022, though he’d been ministering for years before that.
Raised in Makurdi, the capital city of Benue State in Nigeria’s North-Central region, Orokpo comes from the Idoma ethnic group. Supernatural encounters marked his childhood; his first vision came at age seven, and by nine, he was delivering prophetic words he didn’t fully understand himself.
Apostle Michael Orokpo Education
Apostle Orokpo’s educational background is impressive by any standard:
- B.Sc. in Pure Chemistry – Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State
- M.Sc. in Physical Chemistry – Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State
- PhD in Chemistry – Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State
He also received Christian apologetics training from Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM), adding a theological framework to his charismatic experiences.
Before his prominence in ministry, Orokpo worked as a chemistry and mathematics teacher.
Early Life and Spiritual Calling
Young Michael Orokpo didn’t exactly embrace his calling with open arms. At 12 years old, he recalls arguing with the Holy Spirit, insisting he would never preach the gospel. But God had other plans.
His turning point came in 2006 at a village crusade organised by Evangelist Vero Enewa Aluma (the elder sister of Dr Paul Enenche, founder of Dunamis International Gospel Centre). That encounter redirected his entire destiny. “God reached out to him again and redirected his destiny,” as he later testified.
Before fully surrendering to ministry, Orokpo tried pursuing other paths. In 2013, he attempted to join the Nigerian Air Force through the Direct Short Service Course but was unsuccessful despite having strong connections. When another opportunity arose to join the Nigerian Navy, he’d already made his choice; he would serve God regardless of fame or fortune.
The following years became what he calls his “crucible season.” Despite holding a master’s degree and pursuing doctoral studies, God asked him in 2017 to serve as an usher in a campus fellowship at Benue State University. For 18 months, he stood at the door, greeting students with a smile and handing out envelopes. This humbling process broke his pride and prepared him for greater things.
Apostle Michael Orokpo Ministry
December 2018 brought a prophetic word that would change everything. God told Orokpo, “There will be a temptation coming your way—don’t fall because I want to begin to announce you.” After 13 years of preparation, his season had arrived.
On February 24, 2019, just days before his birthday, God instructed him to extract short clips from his teachings and call them “Puritan Capsules.” These 5-10 minute Spirit-filled messages were released on Telegram. Within three weeks, the Puritan Capsules had spread to seven nations. By March 13, he’d received an invitation to preach in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, and invitations from over 18 Nigerian states had flooded in.
“What people took years of labour to enter, I was never known on the landscape,” he testified. “He kept me on the backside of the wilderness and he was dealing with me because he knew what was operational in me was PRIDE.”
On May 24, 2019, Apostle Michael Orokpo was officially ordained at Remnant Christian Network (RCN), where he served as a global administrator and adjunct instructor at Cave Adullam Bible College in Makurdi. He’d served under Apostle Arome Osayi for over 20 years, receiving invaluable mentorship in the deeper dealings of God.
In November 2021, God gave him the mandate to launch his own ministry. Encounter Jesus Ministries International was officially inaugurated on January 23, 2022, in Abuja, Nigeria. The vision? “To raise a tribe of sons that do the will of their heavenly Father; Priests that bear the burdens of their Lord and Kings that advance the Kingdom of their God and reign in life.”

EJMI operates through six core departments: Music & Worship, Prayer & Intercession, Leadership Development, Missions & Evangelism, Media & Technology, and Protocol & Hospitality. The ministry draws thousands of believers weekly, both physically and online, with conferences attracting national and international attention.
EJMI’s organisational structure includes key leadership positions:

- Pastor Godwin – Senior Minister (over 10 years experience, prophetic teacher)
Apostle Michael Orokpo Marriage and Family Life
Apostle Orokpo married Osenaga Umobuarie in a beautiful double ceremony. Their traditional wedding took place on April 23, 2021, followed by a white wedding on April 24, 2021, at the Assemblies of God Church, Ugbowo, Benin City, Edo State.
Osenaga, now known as Pastor (Mrs.) Osenaga Michael-Orokpo brings her own impressive credentials to the partnership. She’s the daughter of Rev. and Evangelist Mrs Ekesili Umobuarie of Idoa, from Esan West Local Government of Edo State. Beyond being a worship leader, she serves as Secretary General of EJMI and heads Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group.
The couple has been blessed with two sons:
Moses Idango Ehinomen Orokpo was born on February 7, 2022, and christened on February 15, 2022, by Pastor Paul Enenche and his wife, Pastor Becky Paul-Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre. Apostle Orokpo affectionately calls him “the young Prophet.”
Their second son was born in March 2024. Announcing the birth on Instagram, Orokpo wrote: “Errand from eternity. The second Prophet has landed.” The couple has kept additional details about their second child private for family security.

Apostle Orokpo’s teaching catalogue is extensive and growing. His messages centre around experiential knowledge of God, revival, brokenness, spiritual warfare, and kingdom advancement. He’s particularly known for confrontational, revelatory preaching that stirs believers to repentance and holiness.

Relationships with Other Ministers
Reconciliation with Apostle Arome Osayi
The most significant relational development in 2024 was Orokpo’s reconciliation with Apostle Arome Osayi, his spiritual father and leader of Remnant Christian Network. After Orokpo’s 2021 departure to establish an independent ministry, distance developed between the two apostles, becoming a topic of public speculation in Nigerian Christian circles.
In 2024, Dr John Akpami facilitated a reconciliation meeting in Zaria, Nigeria. The reconciliation was conducted “in the Spirit of truth, reconciliation and peace.” During the meeting, Apostle Osayi prayed for and blessed Apostle Orokpo. Multiple sources confirm the reconciliation was genuine: “Apostle Michael Orokpo and Apostle Arome Osayi are fine with each other.”
This resolution is significant in Nigeria’s prophetic movement, where ministerial splits often remain acrimonious.
Beyond his restored relationship with Apostle Osayi, Orokpo maintains strong connections with influential ministers:
Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre christened Orokpo’s first son and has “imparted” him at various conferences, including IMFFC 2025. Orokpo has publicly testified about Dr Enenche’s intervention in his “battles.”
He’s also received impartation from Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and other notable ministers. His Kenyan partnership with The Watchers Hub International has established him as a voice whose messages on prayer, holiness, and authority have become “foundations for many rising ministers and intercessors across East Africa.”
Apostle Michael Orokpo Net Worth
Various sources estimate Apostle Orokpo’s net worth between $300,000 and $1 million as of 2025, with $500,000 being the most commonly cited figure. Identified income sources include speaking engagement honorariums, book sales, media productions, ministry partner donations, and YouTube monetisation.
However, these figures should be viewed with caution. Religious figures in Nigeria typically don’t publish financial statements or tax returns, and the wide variation across sources suggests speculation rather than documented verification. Before achieving prominence in ministry, Orokpo earned a modest income as a chemistry teacher and lecturer.
He is currently raising two young children in Abuja while funding international ministry operations, which likely requires substantial income, but exact figures remain unverifiable.
