Little Adam, oh, little Adam. I never knew a small boy would hit out Ryan off his wit. Damn.
Little Adam, played by Scobell Walter, was flawless in bringing out the comedy and wit that always takes us toward Ryan in all his movies. I couldn’t help but feel proud seeing a small boy hit Deadpool hard on the guts with lines out of this world. Let’s look at the story.
Fighter pilot Adam Reed steals a time jet in a dystopian 2050 to travel to 2018 and save his wife, Laura Shane. He suffers injuries along the process and crash-lands in 2022. The narrative’s focus then changes to Adam, a 12-year-old in 2022 whose father Louis passed away a year earlier. He is bullied at school, has a fighting suspension, and has a strained relationship with his mother, Ellie. One night when he is alone at home, he discovers the hurt future, Adam. Future Adam accidentally gives the names of the younger Adam and his dog, Hawking, but the younger Adam refuses to believe the stranger. The younger Adam quickly understands that the stranger in front of him is indeed him in the future.
Trust me; his younger self acts just like him. And I’m like, ‘How did they find this little guy?’
Adam must fetch the younger Adam and use his DNA to enter his plane because a safety feature prevents him from flying due to his wounds. The dystopian world’s ruler Maya Sorian and her assistant Christos shortly assault them both. Still, Laura, who had pretended to be dead and remained off the grid in an unidentified place, saves them both. After surviving the assault and exchanging notes, Laura and the Adams conclude that Sorian had monopolized the knowledge of time travel following Louis Reed’s discovery of it and his death. Laura discovered that Sorian frequently visited her past self to advise to ensure her future prosperity and power.
This leaves her stuck in the past and dead in the future. I honestly loved the way Shawn Levy portrayed the past and present. Although it isn’t any different from what we have already been seeing, it makes us want to watch out for what’s next.
The Adams family meets Louis Reed in 2018 to enlist his assistance, but their father declines out of fear about the impact on the time stream. Sorian encounters her former self that evening and warns her about Adam. The Adams family is conversing about their shared sentiments regarding their father in a motel. They both left to demolish the time machine the following day. They are ambushed by Sorian’s men when they get to Sorian Technologies, but Louis suddenly saves them after changing his mind and agreeing to lead them. Louis explains that as long as Sorian has his algorithm with all the logic and limitations to regulate the process, destroying the machine will not end time travel. However, in 2050 Sorian captured young Adam.
Even when 2050 Adam and Louis remove a memory unit containing the algorithm, the two Sorians show up and use 2022 Adam as leverage to force Louis to give up the algorithm. Adam manages to get away from Sorian in 2022 by shoving her pistol away. Still, a stray bullet breaches the seal holding back the electromagnetic field, causing it to expand to infinity. The older Sorian threatens to kill Louis despite the Reeds’ best efforts to stop them. Louis is adamant despite Adam’s warnings that her bullets are armor-piercing. With no other option, Sorian shoots Louis. Still, the electromagnetic field changes the trajectory of the bullet, causing it to strike 2018 Sorian instead, killing her and erasing the older Sorian from existence.
The Reeds barely manage to escape the facility’s implosion and reach home, where they reconcile by playing a game of catch before the Adams return to their respective times. In 2022, the younger Adam lives in a new timeline where his suspensions never happened, has let go of his anger, and hugs his mother via an “echo.” Sometime in the future, an older and much happier Adam meets Laura during a flight training lecture, where she realizes she has entered the wrong building on the campus. After Adam offers to walk her to her building, stating that he has time, they depart together.
Although parts of this story may have been told in other movies, it has not been done with the humor and intelligence that the Adam Project portrays. It is a must-watch if you haven’t done that already.

The Adam Project was directed by Shawn Levy and features Ryan Reynolds as Adam Reed, and Walker Scobell as younger Adam Reed.
The Adam Project (2022)
Although we have seen parts of The Adam Project in other movies like Umbrella academy when number 5 had to meet his older self, but it has not been done with the humor and intelligence that the Adam Project portrays. It is a must-watch if you haven't done that already.
