Jordyn Negri captured the attention of Canadian television audiences as Jules Shade on the hit series Private Eyes, but her story has taken an unexpected turn. The 25-year-old actress who once navigated the entertainment industry has now shifted gears, building a corporate career while keeping one foot in the acting world.
Biography
Born on September 21, 2000, in Toronto, Ontario, Jordyn Negri grew up in Canada’s entertainment hub. She holds Canadian nationality and stands at 5’3″ (1.60 m), though it’s her talent rather than her stature that’s made the lasting impression.
Between the ages of six and thirteen, Jordyn was deeply involved in competitive dance. She then transitioned to competitive cheerleading during her high school years.
Music also played a significant role in young Jordyn’s life. She sang with the prestigious Toronto Children’s Chorus, Canada’s premier treble choir. This musical connection led to a credit as backup choir vocals on Classified’s “Inner Ninja” in 2012. The track went on to win the 2013 Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year and achieved 5× platinum certification in Canada.
The acting bug bit her during a seemingly ordinary school event. When she emceed her school’s talent show in Grade 4, something clicked. By age nine, she was pursuing acting seriously, and at just ten years old, she landed her television debut in Warehouse 13 (2010-2011).
Jordyn later pursued higher education at Wilfrid Laurier University, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, graduating around 2022.
Career
Jordyn Negri’s acting career, managed by Noble Caplan Abrams, spans over 15 years of consistent work in Canadian productions, anchored by two particularly notable roles.
Her breakout role came in 2013 when she joined the cast of Dino Dan: Trek’s Adventures as Hannah, appearing in 21 episodes of the Daytime Emmy Award-winning series. The show ran from 2013 to 2014 and showcased her ability to connect with younger audiences.
However, it’s her portrayal of Jules Shade in Private Eyes (2016-2021) that truly defined her career. Over five seasons and 56 episodes, Jordyn portrayed Matt Shade’s daughter, who has macular degeneration and is legally blind. To authentically represent visual impairment, she studied with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).
The character was described as “savvy, focused and funny,” and Jordyn maintained this portrayal through all 56 episodes until the series finale on July 7, 2021. Playing opposite Jason Priestley, she held her own in a show that became a Canadian television staple.
Her television work also includes appearances in:
- Warehouse 13 (2010-2011) as Christina
- Good Dog (2011) as Sunshine Girl
- Grizzly Cup (2014) as Vivien, spanning 5-6 episodes on Disney XD
- Annedroids (2017) as Girl Bully
Jordyn’s film career has been equally diverse. In 2013, she played Charlie Stern in A Fish Story, followed by portraying Young Mazo in The Mystery of Mazo de la Roche (2012), a biographical drama.
Her most recent work came in 2023, marking a brief return to acting after the conclusion of Private Eyes. She appeared in How to Fall in Love by Christmas, a Roku Channel original starring Teri Hatcher that premiered on Lifetime in December 2024. That same year, she featured in Jupiter, a short film produced by the Canadian Film Centre.
She also appeared in 2149: The Aftermath (2021), a sci-fi film starring Molly Parker, which was filmed in 2014 but released years later on Amazon Prime Video. Additionally, she featured in the short movie Tiny Dancer (2013) as Asante.
Career Shift
Since Private Eyes wrapped in 2021, her acting output has notably decreased. No new acting projects have been announced for 2024 or 2025. She’s currently working as Manager, Customer Success at VendorPM, a property management technology company in the Greater Toronto Area.
Personal Life
Regarding relationships, information remains largely unclear. Instagram photos suggest a relationship with “Henny,” whilst others have referenced “Tanner Duckworth,” but neither claim has been independently confirmed. It’s probably best to respect her privacy on this front.
