Professional Career
Sean Hannity’s career started back in 1982 when he began a house-painting business. Later, he worked as a building contractor in California.
In 1989, he hosted his first talk show at UC Santa Barbara, facing a bit of trouble over discussions about gay and lesbian rights. Despite a temporary cancellation, the show resumed after support from the American Civil Liberties Union.
Sean then promoted himself as the “most talked about college radio host in America” and landed roles in radio stations like WVNN in Alabama and WGST in Atlanta.
His big break came in 1996 when Roger Ailes hired him to host “Hannity & Colmes,” a TV program on Fox News. Afterward, he moved to WABC in New York and eventually secured a significant slot on WOR in New York City.
His radio show, “The Sean Hannity Show,” gained national attention in 2001, reaching millions of listeners. Hannity consistently ranks high in Talkers Magazine’s list and Forbes’ “Celebrity 100.”
On television, he co-hosted “Hannity & Colmes” until 2009 and later took over the time slot with his show, “Hannity.” He also created “Hannity’s America,” a Sunday night show on Fox News starting in 2007.
In January 2024, Sean left New York to broadcast full-time from Florida, where he had wanted to relocate for years.
Hannity is also known for his generally conservative views and occasionally expressed support for birth control, leading to disagreements with pro-life guests.

Even with a hectic schedule, Hannity managed to write these books, revealing that he often dictated his thoughts into a tape recorder while driving to his radio show.
In 2010, he added another accomplishment to his writing career with “Conservative Victory: Defeating Obama’s Radical Agenda,” published by HarperCollins. This book, too, made it to the New York Times Bestseller list.
