Joel Hailey, also known as JoJo Hailey, was born on June 10, 1971, in Monroe, North Carolina. His parents, Cliff and Anita Hailey, were gospel singers. He has an older brother named Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey. They are also related to R&B artists Fantasia Barrino, Dave Hollister, Calvin Richardson, and Stephanie Mills.
The family moved around a bit, living in Baltimore, Maryland, for a while before returning to Charlotte when the boys were teenagers.
