Michel’le first met Dr. Dre at 16, working on the song “Turn Off the Lights” for World Class Wreckin’ Cru. They started dating, and despite their age difference, became engaged and had a son named “Marcel Young” in 1991.

However, their relationship turned tumultuous due to Dre’s drinking, infidelity, and abusive behavior. Michel’le endured physical abuse, including a broken nose and a near-fatal incident when Dre shot at her during an argument but he missed by some inches.

Struggling with Dre’s violent behavior, Michel’le resorted to self-medication with pills and alcohol. The breaking point came when she discovered Dre’s engagement to another woman. Their time together lasted for 9 years (1987-1996).

Suge Knight intervened, helping her seek rehabilitation. In 1999, Michel’le married Suge while he was in prison but later divorced due to the revelation that Suge was still married to his ex-wife Sharitha.

The marriage included a violent incident where Suge dislocated Michel’le’s jaw. They have a daughter named Bailei Knight, who was born on November 29, 2002. Michel’le time with Suge Knight lasted for 6 years (1999-2005)

In 2015, amid criticism for omitting his abusive past in the film “Straight Outta Compton,” Dre issued a public apology. Michel’le doubted its sincerity, believing it was more about protecting Dre’s public image than a genuine apology to her.

Biography

Michel’le Denise Toussant was born on December 4, 1970, in Los Angeles, California. As famous as she is, there is still no information about her parents, siblings, or the school/educational qualifications attained.

Her career in music began when she sang as the featured female artist in World Class Wreckin’ Cru’s song “Turn Off the Lights” in 1987, filling in for Mona Lisa.

She joined Eazy-E’s Ruthless Records and released her first album “Michel’le” in 1989, made with her then-boyfriend Dr. Dre. The album had a popular song called “No More Lies,” which reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. It became certified Gold in 1990 because it sold over 500,000 copies.

Michel’le also played a part in the West Coast All-Stars and got nominated for a Grammy for their song “We’re All in the Same Gang,” featuring artists like MC Hammer, Ice-T, and N.W.A members.

Michel’le’s second album “Hung Jury” which was released on August 25, 1998, did not perform as well as her first album. It was so bad that it only sold under 100,000 copies.

What caused the underperformance of her album was the illegal activities and bad name that Suge Knight started making for himself, which affected the record label “Death Row Records,” of which Michel’le was a part.

She stopped singing for a while but dropped a single titled “Freedom to Love” in 2011, which was followed by other singles such as “It Still Hurts” and “Being In Love” released in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
