Naya Rivera: The Courageous Songbird Who Flew Too Soon
The Hollywood star who was widely known for her role in the popular American series “Glee” died on the 8th of July, 2020.
Naya Rivera started in Hollywood as a child actress and model. As a kid, she was noticed for her exceptional talent and so was cast in several television series. She shot into stardom after portraying the role of Santana Lopez in the popular Fox TV series, Glee from 2009 to 2015.
Cause of Death:
Naya was declared missing on the 8th of July, 2020 after she went swimming with her four-year-old son Josey. In the early hours of that day, she had rented a boat at Lake Piru, a reservoir in the Los Angeles Padres National Forest. After three hours of Naya and her son leaving the dock, they still had not returned therefore a search party went out looking for them.
The search began at 4 pm and at 5 pm, Josey, Naya’s son was found. The child was asleep alone in the boat wearing a life jacket while Naya was nowhere to be found. Furthermore, Josey reported that his mother wasn’t wearing a life jacket and that he had seen her go underwater after struggling to climb the boat.
An extensive search was made and after 5 days, her body was found on the 13th of July. It was later reported that she died a few minutes after she had drowned. According to Josey’s report of what happened, the local sheriff suggested that Naya and her son might have been caught in a rip current. The cause of death was ruled as accidental drowning.
A private funeral was held on the 24th of July and she was buried at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills.
Naya was no stranger to the lake as she had been visiting for years and was also a strong swimmer. Her death was a shock to many and was hailed a hero for saving her son’s life. She was 33 years old at the time of her death.
