Nigerian entertainment has seen plenty of celebrity breakups play out online, but few have unraveled quite like the one involving veteran broadcaster Frank Edoho, his estranged wife Sandra Onyenucheya, and Afrobeats singer Chike.
What began as a quietly filed divorce turned, within a matter of days in May 2026, into a sprawling public dispute involving leaked audio, a viral argument, four named women, and eventually a defamation lawsuit.
Almost every major claim in this story is still contested by at least one side, and much of the so called evidence circulating online has not been independently verified.
First Marriage
Before Sandra, there was Katherine Obiang. Frank Edoho’s first marriage produced three children and ended in 2010 after seven years together, with both sides trading accusations of mistreatment at the time, according to reporting from that period.
That earlier split matters mostly as background. It shows this was not the first time accusations of this kind had surrounded one of Edoho’s marriages, a pattern that would resurface, much more publicly, when his second marriage collapsed a decade and a half later.
Second Marriage
Edoho and Sandra Onyenucheya married in a traditional ceremony in 2013 while she was reportedly pregnant with their first child together.
Their son was born on April 2, 2014, and a second child followed in 2016 in the United States, though earlier reporting on Edoho has cited 2018.
For much of the following decade, the couple presented a fairly normal public front. Sandra even publicly credited Edoho for supporting her interior design business, Viva Bella Designs, in social media posts from 2019 that would later resurface and be picked apart once the marriage fell apart in public.
According to Frank, the marriage had effectively ended long before anyone outside their circle knew about it.
He has said the couple separated privately in December 2022, though he has described the timeline in somewhat different terms across different interviews and reports.
At some points he referenced an earlier stretch, around 2021 to 2022, when he says he left their shared home for three months.
The first real public acknowledgment of trouble came quietly in June 2025, when Edoho told the Tea With Tay podcast that his marriage had crashed and that the couple had been separated since December 2022.
At the time, the comment barely registered outside entertainment circles.
An older clip of Frank speaking with interviewer Tejubabyface resurfaced online around this time and added fuel to the growing conversation.
In it, he described his own approach to marital conflict in blunt terms: “I can stay in the same house and I’ll not talk to you. If you cross the line, my wife knows now, I am the king of malice. I will not talk to you, that is the beating that suffices physical ones.” The remark, framed by Frank as a description of silent treatment rather than physical harm, drew criticism from commenters who argued that kind of prolonged emotional withdrawal could itself push a marriage toward collapse.
That changed on May 10, 2026, when Nigerian gossip blogger Cutie Juls published claims alleging that Sandra was romantically involved with singer Chike, best known for his 2023 tribute record with the late Mohbad.
The post spread quickly across Nigerian social media, and Edoho reportedly reacted to it in the comments section, which only fueled speculation rather than settling it.
Frank Confirms The Divorce
Two days later, on May 12, 2026, Edoho addressed the growing chatter directly in a formal Instagram statement, his first extensive public comment on the marriage.
“I have lived through it privately for quite some time now, almost two years, and have since made peace with it emotionally,” he wrote, adding that he was “well, focused, at peace” and that “moving forward quietly is the most dignified path one can take.”
Notably, he did not name Chike or address the affair claims directly in that post, framing the announcement instead as confirmation of a divorce he said had been years in the making. He has also said separately that the experience left him preferring to stay alone for now rather than enter another serious relationship.
Leaked Audio And A Viral Fight
Within days, the story escalated well beyond a routine celebrity divorce announcement. Between roughly May 14 and May 21, 2026, several pieces of unverified audio and video began circulating, each adding a new layer to the story.
A leaked video appeared to show Frank and Sandra in a heated argument, with Sandra confronting him while he attempted to record the moment on his phone.
Sandra later gave her own account of what led to the clip, saying the confrontation followed her overhearing Frank discussing her alleged relationship with Chike on the phone with a friend, an account Frank has not confirmed in those terms.
A separate leaked voice note, whose authenticity has not been independently verified, purported to capture Frank describing the emotional toll of the marriage’s collapse.
In it, a voice reportedly his said he had tried everything, that he had kept malice, left the marital home for three months, and eventually broke down and cried after learning of Sandra’s alleged relationship with Chike.
The same recording reportedly referenced Sandra’s longtime spiritual mother attempting to intervene and urging her to end the alleged affair, with Sandra allegedly responding that she would die with the singer.
Neither Frank nor Sandra has authenticated this recording publicly.
A third recording, an alleged phone call between Sandra and Chike, also went viral during this window. In it, a voice purported to be Sandra’s discusses pressure to confess to a relationship with Chike and proposes they meet for one last stupid thing before blocking each other, a phrase that itself became a meme across Nigerian social media.
As with the other recordings, neither Sandra nor Chike has confirmed the call is genuine, and its authenticity remains unverified.
A question neither side has resolved in public sits underneath all of this leaked material: whether Sandra’s relationship with Chike, however it is eventually characterized, began before or after the marriage had effectively ended.
Frank has suggested in leaked material that the two were still functioning as husband and wife, in some fashion, when the alleged relationship began, while Sandra has maintained she had already chosen to leave and filed for divorce before moving on with her own life.
The timelines offered by each side do not fully align, and neither has been independently verified.
Sandra Fires Back With Her Own Allegations
Sandra did not stay quiet for long. On May 14, 2026, she published the first of several lengthy Instagram posts under the heading Surviving Frank Edoho, directly denying any affair with Chike and instead accusing Frank of infidelity, emotional abuse, and financial exploitation throughout their marriage.
She wrote that she had been faithful to the core and that Frank needed to come to equity with clean hands, alleging he had pursued a prolonged affair, one she described as lasting years, with actress Mbong Amata starting while she was pregnant with their first child.
Sandra’s claims extended well beyond infidelity. She alleged that Frank had been physically and emotionally abusive during the marriage, describing one incident in which she said he held a dumbbell over her and threatened to disfigure her face, and another in which she said he threatened to kill her.
She shared what she described as photographs of bruising as part of her account, though none of this has been independently corroborated by a third party.
She also alleged financial misconduct, claiming she had single handedly funded the household, paid off a car loan, and covered his mother’s extended stay in the United States, and that he had sold a property she owned without her permission for what she called next to nothing, then spent the proceeds within a week across what she described as numerous documented transactions at Lekki hotels, Airbnb apartments, lounges, and bars.
Frank has denied the allegations as a whole, without addressing every individual claim point by point in public.
In a separate, more detailed post days later, Sandra named four women she alleged Frank had affairs with during their marriage, actress Mbong Amata, former Big Brother Naija housemate Tega Dominic, business executive Amaka Okeke, and a woman identified as Adaeze Ugboaja.
She alleged that Frank disappeared for stretches of time with several of these women at hotels and lounges, and specifically claimed that one of them, Amaka Okeke, had at one point stayed in the couple’s home and used their shared bedroom, a claim Frank has not addressed directly and that has not been independently verified.
The Named Women Push Back
Each of the women named by Sandra has denied any romantic involvement with Frank Edoho, and their denials deserve to be heard just as clearly as the original accusations against them.
Tega Dominic said on May 15, 2026, that she had absolutely no sexual or emotional relationship with Frank Edoho and indicated her lawyers would handle the matter from there, calling it the only public response she intended to give.
Amaka Okeke, identified in multiple outlets as the executive director of business development at Optiva Capital Partners, called the claims false, malicious, and baseless. One other outlet reported the same denial, quote for quote, under the name Diane Okeke rather than Amaka Okeke, but the weight of reporting, including Sandra’s own original post and its accompanying Instagram handle, points to Amaka Okeke as the correct name, so this piece follows that.
“Over the past few hours, my name has been wrongly linked to false and baseless allegations currently circulating online. For clarity, Frank Edoho and I met in 2024 on strictly business-related matters and only became good friends in May 2025 when he was dealing with a personal matter, which I will not bring up here for privacy reasons. Any narrative beyond this is completely untrue,” she wrote, adding that she remained focused on her work and that her legal team had been informed and would take action in due course.
Mbong Amata and Adaeze Ugboaja had not issued widely reported public statements on the allegations as of this writing, which means their positions remain unknown rather than confirmed or denied in either direction.
That absence of a response should not be read as agreement with the claims against them.
Chike’s Silence
Chike, born Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka, built his career after appearing on Project Fame West Africa and finishing as first runner-up on the first season of The Voice Nigeria, before breaking out with his single “Fancy” and going on to act in films including Gangs of Lagos and Battleground. Through all of this, he himself has said almost nothing.
On May 17, 2026, he posted a short, ambiguous message on X reading only “Pity my soul,” which many interpreted as a response to the swirling rumors, though he never confirmed that connection publicly.
He has otherwise limited his engagement on the matter to occasional comments on his own social media accounts and has not directly confirmed or denied a relationship with Sandra, leaving his side of the story almost entirely unspoken in his own words months into the saga.
Lawsuits, A Viral Comeback, And Where Things Stand Now
By late May 2026, both Frank and Sandra had signaled the dispute would move from social media into the courts. Frank said in a statement that the allegations made against him were false and that he would address the matter through the appropriate legal channels, where facts, evidence, and due process would prevail, and separate reporting indicates he pursued legal action against Sandra over her claims of abuse and infidelity.
He also apologized to sponsors and professional associates drawn into the public discourse and asked for privacy on behalf of his children, describing the period as especially difficult for his family.
Sandra, for her part, has maintained her account of the marriage and continued posting intermittently as the story cycled through Nigerian gossip blogs and YouTube commentary channels over the following months.
The saga resurfaced publicly again on August 13, 2026, when a social media user commented on one of Sandra’s posts, calling her “our favourite cheating wife.” Sandra’s blunt two word reply, “Yes b*tch,” itself went viral and briefly reignited discussion of the saga across Nigerian social media.
A more formal legal escalation followed in July 2026, when a woman identified in court filings as Adekoya Ibukunoluwa, described in reporting as a woman alleged to be romantically linked to Frank, filed a defamation lawsuit against Sandra. The lawsuit itself contains one of the most specific and serious claims in the entire saga: Adekoya alleged that in November 2023, someone impersonating Frank contacted her on WhatsApp and invited her to the Edoho residence in Lagos under the guise of a 10 million naira offer, where she says she was met by a man posing as Frank’s brother who locked her in a room. She claimed Frank later apologized to her after learning what had happened, though this account comes solely from her own legal filing and has not been independently corroborated.
According to documents dated July 17, 2026, Adekoya’s lawyers accused Sandra of libel, fraudulent misrepresentation, and breach of privacy over Instagram posts that included her photograph and private WhatsApp conversations, and the suit sought 100 million naira in damages along with a public apology and the removal of the posts.
A separate settlement proposal offered to resolve the matter for 20 million naira if Sandra deleted the posts and issued an apology within seven days. It remains unclear from available reporting whether Adekoya is among the same four women Sandra named earlier in the saga or a separate figure altogether, and as of this writing there is no public record of the case having been resolved.
As of September 2026, the broader dispute between Frank and Sandra remains unresolved. Both a divorce case and at least one defamation matter appear to be proceeding through Nigerian courts, neither Frank nor Sandra has walked back their core claims, and Chike has still not directly addressed the allegations that first drew his name into the story.
